New Radiothon Partners from MIXfm Mix It Up at Cafeteria Mixer

TMC for Children on Thursday welcomed the Bobby Rich Morning Mix team as the new partners for the upcoming Children’s Miracle Network Radiothon.

“It’s nice to put a face with the voice,” exclaimed registered nurse Michelle Spohn, as others listeners lined up for autographs and handshakes with Bobby Rich, Mrs. Grant and Greg Curtis.

Scott Rustand, a transportation staffer, was one of those who came by to share his gratitude for the work that will be done Dec. 6th and 7th to support the Radiothon.

As a premature newborn, Rustand spent some time in TMC for Children’s newborn intensive care, so he appreciates the work being done to raise money for vital equipment and programs.

“You never know who might need that support,” he said. “It might be a family member, or a friend, or even a total stranger, but it’s nice to know that help is available for people who need it.”

Rustand said Rich’s community values and lengthy history in Tucson will make him and his team strong partners for the event.

Rich shared with some well-wishers that he has a long history with Children’s Miracle Network, participating in San Diego before he moved to Tucson in 1992, and then participating in telethons in the mid-1990s to raise money for the organization. “It’s long been my hope to lead the Radiothon on 94.9MIXfm,” he said.

The Radiothon is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Children’s Miracle Network and raises hundreds of thousands of dollars to support TMC for Children.

Erika Grasse, the director of development for the TMC Foundation and the Children’s Miracle Network, said she’s excited to work with the MIXfm team. “Their strong connection with Southern Arizona and their commitment to making a difference in the lives of others is what this effort is all about, so this partnership is really a natural fit.”

The annual fundraising event sustains ongoing programs, and will help complete the Block by Block, Miracles Happen capital campaign for the new TMC for Children pediatrics unit. Revenues will help fund the final phase of the expansion and renovation that resulted in the opening of 44 beautiful new private rooms last year.

Every dollar raised locally for Children’s Miracle Network stays at TMC to serve the families of Southern Arizona.
